What to Expect During Your Tour?
Sample Itinerary
DAY 1 – SANDAKAN / SEPILOK ORANGUTAN / BORNEAN SUN BEAR / KINABATANGAN RIVER CRUISE – ABAI JUNGLE LODGE
- 08:00 hrs – Depart for the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
- 09:30–09:50 hrs – Visit the Outdoor Nursery.
- 10:00 hrs – Orangutan feeding time.
- 10:30 hrs – Explore the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre.
- 11:15 hrs – Depart for Sim Sim Jetty for the scheduled 12:00 boat transfer to Abai Jungle Lodge.
- 13:15 hrs – Lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant.
- 14:00 hrs – Check in at Abai Jungle Lodge (AJL).
- 16:30 hrs – Afternoon river cruise along one of the best sections of the Kinabatangan River. Continue into a night cruise to witness fireflies lighting up the trees.
- 19:30 hrs – Dinner served at the jetty overlooking the Kinabatangan River.
- After dinner – Guided night walk along the nature boardwalk (600m–1000m).
DAY 2 – KINABATANGAN RIVER CRUISE – ABAI JUNGLE LODGE
- 06:30 hrs – Morning river cruise to Pitas Oxbow Lake.
- 08:00 hrs – Jungle breakfast at the Abai Jungle Platform.
- 11:00 hrs – Visit Abai Village and learn about the daily life of the local community.
- 12:00 hrs – Lunch hosted at a villager’s home (CSR program).
- 16:30 hrs – Afternoon river cruise in search of wildlife.
- 19:30 hrs – Dinner at Abai Jungle Restaurant. Overnight at Abai Jungle Lodge.
DAY 3 – KINABATANGAN RIVER / SANDAKAN
- 08:00 hrs – Breakfast.
- 09:00 hrs – Scheduled boat departure to Sandakan.
- 10:30 hrs – Early lunch before transfer to the airport for flights departing after 14:00 hrs.
DAY 1 – SANDAKAN / SELINGAN ISLAND
Depart from your hotel in Sandakan or meet at Sandakan Airport.
Transfer to the jetty to take a boat ride to Selingan Turtle Island. Arrive the island; check in to your chalet.
You day at your own disposal, ideal for swimming and snorkelling (weather permitting). After dinner, the park ranger will take you to witness the turtle laying eggs, transfer of the eggs to the hatchery and release of hatchlings to the sea. Overnight at the Chalet.
Selingan Turtle Island
After lunch, free at leisure until dinner time at 19:30 hrs. You can swim at the designated beach area and snorkelling gears are available for rent with charges on the island.
Before going for dinner, make sure all your important/valuable things are with you and do not leave it in your room. Please do not go back to your room after dinner because at any time, the rangers will call to observe turtle laying eggs. Transfer the eggs to the hatchery and if there is any young turtle hatching, an opportunity to observe the release of the baby turtles to the sea.
Remarks: The Selingan Island chalet is about 500m away from the beach. There is NO PORTER Service on the island. Therefore, you have to carry your own luggage from the boat to your chalet. We highly advise you to re-pack your clothing for your duration stay in order to have a more comfortable stay at Selingan Island. We do have a luggage room available at our jetty.
DAY 2 – SELINGAN ISLAND/SEPILOK ORANG UTAN – BORNEON SUN BEAR/KINABATANGAN RIVER – BILIT
0700hrs after breakfast, depart from Selingan Island and return to the Sandakan. Arrive at mainland, continue to the world-renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre to witness the feeding of the iconic Orang Utan and a good opportunity to photograph them in their natural habitat. The centre was established in 1964 to help rehabilitate the Orang Utans which had been orphaned, or displaced by logging and clearing of secondary forests for plantation. The magnificent mixed dipterocarp forest offers a natural home to the Orang Utans, which slowly become less dependent on their twice-daily feeding of milk and bananas at the centre and eventually return voluntarily to the wild.
Continue to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. You can now get close to the world’s smallest bear in its natural forest environment. These adorable Sun Bear is losing their habitat through deforestation. The mission of the centre is to promote sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education and research – giving captured sun bears a better home and restoring their right to live in the wild. Visitors will be able to peek in on their activity from the walkway as they lumbered and played in open-air forest enclosures.
Lunch at Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Restaurant.
1245hrs, Depart to Kinabatangan river (2 ½ drive). Upon arrival at the resort, meet & greet by our representative, refreshment will be served. There will be a briefing featuring the overview of the resort routes & safety. At 1600 hours, river cruise in search of wildlife that is so prevalent in the area – a good chance to see proboscis monkey, orang utan, macaques, pygmy elephants, birds and other wildlife. Return to the resort. Dinner will be served. After dinner, overnight at the Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort
DAY 3 – KINABATANGAN RIVER LODGE – BILIT
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Proceed for an early morning cruise to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. After breakfast, en-route to jungle within resort area for more trekking. Return to the resort for lunch. Late afternoon, set off for another river adventure and try to spot more wildlife and birds before returning to the resort for dinner. After dinner, overnight at the Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort
DAY 4 – KINABATANGAN RIVER / SANDAKAN
Rise early for another early morning cruise along the Kinabatangan to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. After breakfast, drop off at Sandakan Airport or at your respective hotel.
DAY 1 – SANDAKAN / MYNATURE RESORT
Flight in any flight that arrive before 1600hrs, transfer to MY Nature Resort.
MY Nature Resort – A boardwalk is built with approx. 1,500 ft. long, going up and down structure for you to explore before dark. The Guided night walk will be conducted by our in-house guide before or after dinner depends on weather condition.
We do provide shuttle van for you to Sepilok that about 2km from resort or Rainforest Discovery Centre that about half km from resort.
Please bring along your swimming suit if you wish to swim at our swimming pool that special design facing the rainforest.
Please make sure be ready before 18:00hrs at “The Flying Squirrel” Platform to witness these amazing creatures in action.
Guided Night walk after dinner if weather permitted at MY Nature Boardwalk behind the resort.
DAY 2 – SEPILOK ORANG UTAN / BORNEON SUN BEAR / KINABATANGAN – ABAI JUNGLE LODGE

-10:30hrs Sun Bear Conservation Centre.
-11:15hrs depart to Sim Sim Jetty for Schedule boat depart at 12:00 to Abai Jungle Lodge.
-13:15hrs Lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant. -14:00hrs Check in Abai Jungle Lodge (AJL).
-16:30hrs River cruise to the best part of Kinabatangan River until night falls and continue
Night cruise to witness the fire flies as Christmas tree.
-19:30hrs Dinner serve at Jetty facing Kinabatangan River
-After Dinner, Guided Night walk at our nature board walk (600m to 1000m)
DAY 3 – KINABATANGAN RIVER SIDE LODGE
-06:30hrs morning cruise to Pitas Oxbow lake
