DAY 1 – TELUPID → DERAMAKOT

Embark on an adventure as you kick off your journey from Sandakan Airport or Sandakan hotels around 8:30 in the morning. You will meet your guide at 77 Restaurant in Telupid, just 150 metres from the bus stop.

From there, you set off on a 4 to 5 hour transfer into Deramakot Forest Reserve along a rugged jungle track. On arrival, you check in to a twin-sharing or double room with attached bathroom and sit down for dinner at the lodge.

After dinner, the night safari begins. Spend three hours searching the forest for nocturnal wildlife including Clouded Leopards, Civets, Owls, and Slow Lorises before retiring for the night.

DAY 2 – FULL DAY SAFARI IN DERAMAKOT

You will start the day with breakfast at the lodge. Then you will head out for a morning safari. This is a great time to look for Orangutans, Gibbons, Hornbills, and other animals that are active in the early hours.

After lunch and some rest, you will go out again for an afternoon safari. This time, the focus is on birds, primates, Pygmy Elephants, and animals on the forest floor.

In the evening, you will go on a night safari to look for animals like Clouded Leopards, Civets, Owls, and Slow Lorises. Dinner will be served before or after the safari, depending on what is happening in the forest. You will sleep at the lodge overnight.

DAY 3 – FULL DAY SAFARI IN DERAMAKOT

After a good night’s rest, enjoy breakfast at the lodge before setting out for another morning safari. Every day in the forest is different, so there is always something new to discover. Look out for familiar faces and perhaps some surprising new ones.

The afternoon safari follows after lunch and a short break. The forest floor, the canopy, and the riverbanks all hold hidden wildlife waiting to be spotted by a patient eye.

Your final night safari of the trip brings the day to a close. Scan the trees and trail for nocturnal animals including Clouded Leopards, Civets, Owls, and Slow Lorises. Dinner will be arranged around the safari timing. Rest well — tomorrow, the journey home begins.

DAY 04 – DERAMAKOT → TELUPID → SANDAKAN

Wake up and go for an early morning walk. This is the last chance to look for the many wild animals that live in the Borneo rainforest. Return to the lodge and have breakfast. After breakfast, check out and drive back to Sandakan
