DAY 1 – SANDAKAN / SEPILOK ORANG UTAN / SUNBEAR / KINABATANGAN – BILIT

Morning, depart from your hotel in Sandakan or meet at Sandakan Airport. Drive to the world-renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre to witness the feeding of the iconic Orang Utan and a good opportunity to photograph them in their natural habitat. The centre was established in 1964 to help rehabilitate the Orang Utans which had been orphaned, or displaced by logging and clearing of secondary forests for plantation. The magnificent mixed dipterocarp forest offers a natural home to the Orang Utans, which slowly become less dependent on their twice-daily feeding of milk and bananas at the centre and eventually return voluntarily to the wild.

Continue to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. You can now get close to the world’s smallest bear in its
natural forest environment. These adorable Sun Bear is losing their habitat through deforestation. The mission
of the centre is to promote sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation,
education and research – giving captured sun bears a better home and restoring their right to live in the wild.
Visitors will be able to peek in on their activity from the walkway as they lumbered and played in open-air forest
enclosures.

After lunch, continue your adjourn to Bilit by the Kinabatangan River and then on to Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort. Upon arrival at the resort, you will be greeted by our team and refreshment will be served followed by briefing featuring the overview of the resort routes & safety.Check in to your room.
At 1600 hours, river cruise in search of wildlife that is so prevalent in the area – a good chance to see proboscis monkey, orang utan, macaques, pygmy elephants, birds and other wildlife. Return to the resort. Dinner will be served. After dinner, overnight at the Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort.

DAY 2 KINABATANGAN – BILIT

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Proceed for an early morning cruise to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. After breakfast, en-route to jungle within resort area for more trekking. Return to the resort for lunch.

Late afternoon, set off for another river adventure and try to spot more wildlife and birds before returning to the resort for dinner. After dinner, overnight at the Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort.

DAY 3 KINABATANGAN / OVERLAND TRANSFER TO LAHAD DATU / DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE

Rise early for another early morning cruise along the Kinabatangan to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. Check out and depart to Lahad Datu.

Arrive at lahad datu and proceed 2 1⁄2 hours overland journey Danum Valley Conservation Area. Enjoy the changing landscapes of the regenerating forests to virgin rainforests of 130-million year old Borneo’s tropical rainforest! Upon arrival, register at DVCA Reception & Information Building and check- in after briefing by DVFC staff.

Enjoy lunch provided at Dining Hall. After lunch, have a chat with your nature guide to plan your days at DVFC. Relax or take your power nap before going on a mid-afternoon walk around the centre as an introduction to the tropical rainforest. The area surrounding the center is teeming with wildlife and it is not uncommon for you to spot resident orang utan, red leaf monkey, sambar deer, hornbills, and other species.

Return to centre before sundown and enjoy dinner at 1900hrs. After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk or 4×4 night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 4 – Danum Valley Field Centre

Wake up early for morning nature and wildlife observation with your nature guide at 06:00 hrs to experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest as it has been for millions of years.

Return to the centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, embark on a trail in the area if you wish. Spend late morning unwinding before lunch.

After lunch, head off for another trek – there are various trails available for you to explore and your nature guide shall discuss this with you. Return to centre in late evening, just in time to watch the sky change colour as the daylight fades.

After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk with your nature guide in search of nocturnal animals.

DAY 5 – Danum Valley Field Centre / Lahad datu

Wake up as early as 04:30 hrs for 4×4 drive to Bukit Atur and be among the first to greet the first ray of the sun as it touches the valley or rise at 0600 hrs for the final morning walk with your nature guide. (if weather permits).

Return to centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, rest or embark on a trail nearby the centre.

Pack your belongings for check out time at 09:30 hrs and depart DVFC for your onward travel to Lahad Datu.
