DAY 1 – SANDAKAN AIRPORT / MYNATURE RESORT-SEPILOK/SUN BEAR / ABAI JUNGLE LODGE – KINABATANGAN

Flight in > any flight that arrives before 1600hrs, transfer to MY Nature Resort. MY Nature Resort – A boardwalk is built with approx. 1,500 ft. long, going up and down structure for you to explore before dark. The Guided night walk will be conducted by our in-house guide before or after dinner, depends on weather conditions.

We do provide shuttle van for you to Sepilok that about 2KM from resort or Rainforest Discovery Centre that about half km from resort. Please bring along your swimming suit if you wish to swim at our swimming pool that special design facing the rainforest.

Please make sure be ready before 18:00hrs at “The Flying Squirrel” Platform to witness these amazing creatures in action.

DAY 2 – MYNATURE RESORT – SEPILOK ORANG UTAN – SUN BEAR / ABAI LODGE – KINABATANGAN

16:30hrs River cruise to the best part of Kinabatangan River until night falls and continue
night cruise to witness the fire flies as Christmas tree.
19:30hrs Dinner serve at Jetty facing Kinabatangan River. After Dinner, Guided Night walk at our nature board walk (600m to 1000m)

DAY 3 – ABAI JUNGLE LODGE – KINABATANGAN RIVERSIDE LODGE

DAY 4 – KINABATANGAN RIVERSIDE LODGE / OVERLAND TO LAHAD DATU / DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE

Breakfast & Overland to Lahad Datu for 2.5Hrs. Proceed 2 1⁄2 hours overland journey Danum Valley Conservation Area. Enjoy the changing landscapes of the regenerating forests to virgin rainforests of 130-million year old Borneo’s tropical rainforest.

Upon arrival, register at DVCA Reception & Information Building and check- in after briefing by DVFC staff. Enjoy lunch provided at Dining Hall. After lunch, have a chat with your nature guide to plan your days at DVFC. Relax or take your power nap before going on a mid-afternoon walk around the centre as an introduction to the tropical rainforest.

The area surrounding the center is teeming with wildlife and it is not uncommon for you to spot resident orang utan, red leaf monkey, sambar deer, hornbills, and other species. Return to centre before sundown and enjoy dinner at 1900hrs. After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk or 4×4 night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 5 – DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE

Wake up early for morning nature and wildlife observation with your nature guide at 06:00 hrs to experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest as it has been for millions of years.

Return to the centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, embark on a trail in the area if you wish. Spend late morning unwinding before lunch.

After lunch, head off for another trek – there are various trails available for you to explore and your nature guide shall discuss this with you. Return to centre in late evening, just in time to watch the sky change colour as the daylight fades.

After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk with your nature guide in search of nocturnal animals.

DAY 6 – DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE / LAHAD DATU / TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE

Wake up as early as 04:30 hrs for 4×4 drive to Bukit Atur and be among the first to greet the first ray of the sun as it touches the valley or rise at 0600 hrs for the final morning walk with your nature guide. (if weather permits).
Return to centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, rest or embark on a trail nearby the centre. Pack your belongings for check out time at 09:30 hrs and depart DVFC for your onward travel to Lahad Datu.

Transferred by road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve (1:30 hrs). Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, which comes complete with private balcony, air conditioner, ceiling fan and hot water shower, a welcome luxury in the forest. Nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad river, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort.

Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments. Visit to Trogon Hall gallery for information about the conservation of Tabin Wildlife Reserve and briefing on birds, insects and animals that is found in this area. (For guest check in before 11:00am) In the afternoon, visit the active Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife.

After trekking through the rainforest for 20 minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. The adventurous can try the effects of the volcanic mud, said to be responsible for a fine complexion. Trek back to the resort along elephant trail.

After dinner, enjoy a CD/Slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear, dark sky of Tabin, identify the constellations above you and make a wish or two. (L,D)

DAY 7 – TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE

Join the early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of more than 300 species of birds. After breakfast, a drive to the core area for animal’s spotting and for photo session before trekking through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. Alternatively explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax.

In the afternoon, try out the Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak made with a natural blend of herbs, to relax tired muscles after long jungle treks.

In the evening, a dusk drive to look out for more nocturnal wildlife & birds coming out to look for food during this time of the day.

After dinner, go for a night walk along the trail nearby the resort in search of sleeping birds, frog and nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 8 – TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE / LAHAD DATU
